Blankets Made from the Heart

On June 5th, Reynolds' employees and their families came together with the O'Brien family of Caroline's Miracle Foundation to make no-sew blankets for children battling cancer at the Dana Farber Hospital. Caroline's Miracle Foundation is a local non-profit organization founded in honor of the generous spirit of Caroline O'Brien, a beloved local girl who bravely battled against an inoperable form of brain cancer known as DIPG. Caroline's family and many others in and beyond our local community have been inspired by Caroline's desire to give back to others and have been bringing smiles to children battling cancer ever since, with gestures such as making no-sew blankets for patients. Together, we were able to create 27 adorable and cozy blankets to give to children at Dana Farber Cancer Institute that were undoubtedly made from the heart. Guessing for a Cause

This May we made a Subaru Love Promise to Bikes for Kids organization to donate a new bike helmet, for every bike donated to our property. BFK is an organization that refurbishes used bicycles and distributes them to kids in need. In an effort to raise awarenessfor this wonderful cause, we decided to fill a 2017 Subaru Impreza with the donated bike helmets, and created a guessing game. We are currently running a Facebook contest to have customers guess how many bike helmets it took to fill a 2017 Impreza. Our winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card and hopefully Bikes for Kids will garner another bike donation, a new volunteer or a generous donation. How many bike helmets do you think it takes to fill a Subaru Impreza?

Cookout for the Troops

Mark your calendars! On July 15th, we will be hosting a Cookout for the Troops event here at Reynolds' Subaru. This all-day event will include burgers, hotdogs, and cookout fare from local vendors; it will be a great summer event for an even better cause. Admission and food will be free, however we kindly encourage donations as all proceeds will benefit the Connecticut National Guard Foundation and the USO of Connecticut. Subaru is Preparing to Ascend to the Top of the Family Hauler Game!

With recent success of Subaru of America, particularly with the larger Outback and Forester, Subaru has decided to join a new vehicle segment. In the 2019 Model year Subaru will introduce their new vehicle, the Ascent: a 7 passenger, three row, family hauling SUV. Subaru ventured into this territory before with the Tribeca, but the timing and the vehicle werenot right at that point which led to the cancelation of that model in 2014. In the time since, Subaru has been steadily improving everything they make, testing new technology, and refining their interiors to get to this point where they can confidently bring out a hopeful class leader in a new development of the 7 Seat SUV market. The Ascent will feature Subaru's signature Symmetrical All Wheel Drive System, as well as the newest feature addition to Subaru; the Eyesight System and other favorite driver assist technologies. In addition, it will feature the latest generation of Starlink telematics and info-tainment, as well as a completely unique interior with room for 7 adults to comfortably fit. Now there truly is a Subaru for everyone, including families who are too big for an Outback!

Common Good Gardens: Bringing Produce to the People

Reynolds' Subaru and the Common Good Gardens (CGG) in Old Saybrook, have recently joined hands to help those in need and support our environment. This new partnership will enhance the garden's ability to bring fresh, organic produce to those who rely on soup kitchen pantries for their groceries. For the staff at Reynolds' Subaru, it will strengthen our longstanding commitment to give back to the greater community. Since 2002, volunteers at Common Good Gardens have grown organic produce (last year, almost 7000 lb.) for distribution through shoreline soup kitchens and pantries.Because of these efforts, thousands of homeless, elderly, disabled, and unemployed in Niantic,Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook have gained better access to nutritious food. CGG provides hands-on opportunities for volunteers to learn and share knowledge about organic gardening and has helped other communities start similar ventures; said Reynolds' Subaru CEO Kathryn Wayland, "I am very excited to partner with CGG. They are doing tremendous things for their neighbors." Reynolds Subaru will buy a large share of vegetables from Upper Pond Farm, an Old Lyme community farm CSA, to be donated weekly to CGG for distribution to the pantries. Reynolds' Subaru will also be supplying a backup driver, when needed, to help deliver produce. CGG is looking forward to having Reynolds as a partner and expanding the network of active volunteers in the area. For more information about CGG, contact them through Facebook or CGG volunteers are active year-round (but especially in summer) and welcome all who are interested.

Circle Garden Party

This Spring, during our Subaru Share the Love event, we are proud to announce that we were able to raise $22,000 here at Reynolds' for The Center for Hospice Care of Southeast Connecticut. Located in Norwich, this non-profit and community -based organization is committed to providing exemplary end of life care for patients, and support for their loved ones. They have recently launched a "sooner is better" campaign, advocating for families to bring their loved ones to hospice care sooner to allow for the highest quality of life possible. Kathryn and Mark Wayland, as well as Tom and Shaleigh Reynolds attended a Center for Hospice Care "Circle "event in the Healing Garden on May 25th of this year, on behalf of Reynolds', and were recognized with an honorary brick placed in the garden, as a token of gratitude for the funds raised at Reynolds' this Spring.
