Reynolds Subaru Gears Up for Fireworks, the Independence Day Parade, Midsummer Festival, and More

As we bid June farewell, we at Reynolds Subaru are ready for July activities around the Lyme, CT area. With the Fourth of July just days away, a Midsummer Festival coming up, and a variety of other activities prepped for your presence, we'd say that residents and visitors are in for a great month of summer fun.

Independence Day, which falls on a Friday this year, is a particularly busy time for traveling. However, if you anticipate staying in the area, you may want to check out local and spectacular firework displays. If you want sky entertainment before the 4^th, you can view fireworks over the Connecticut River in the Middletown area or at the New Britain Stadium on the 3^rd, among other locations. You can also catch them on Independence Day itself at locations like Dodd Stadium in Norwich. On Saturday, July 5, the annual Independence Day Parade will be in full swing thanks to the Sound Beach Association. Expect a marching band, a wide display of police, fire and ambulance trucks, floats, patriotic costumes, pets, and elaborate bikes and wagons. The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. (participants meet 15 minutes earlier) at Shoreline Community Center. We're excited to see who wins in each category of best-decorated bike, best float, most patriotic outfit, and best pet!

The Independence Day festivities will eventually come to an end, but the Lyme area will still be bustling with activity; Bingo nights and a raffle benefitting the Shoreline Community Center are ongoing through September and August respectively, and if you're a fan of art, you'll want to experience the Midsummer Festival, a two-day art celebration with a 20-year+ tradition.

The aforementioned event takes place in Old Lyme's Historic District and will offer a plethora of entertainment including the arts, the Market En Plein Air at the Florence Griswold Museum, artisan fairs, musical performances, activities for the kids, and more. It's a celebration of art, food, and entertainment you won't want to miss!
